Thunder Bay, ON –   Kaw Valley FC (6-2-4) currently sit second in the USL League 2 Heartland division, the spot that the Thunder Bay Chill (5-3-2) is aiming to get in order to get into the post season.  A huge step in getting there comes this Saturday, July 6 when Kaw Valley FC comes to Tbaytel Place at Fort William Stadium. Kick - off is 7:30 pm.  The Chill are coming off wins over Green Bay Voyageurs and St. Louis Lions over the long weekend which has kept the Chill’s playoff hopes alive.

Kaw Valley FC are in their second season of play in USL League 2 and have faced the Chill three times prior.  Twice in 2018 where they defeated the Chill in Lawrence, Kansas by a score of 2-1.  Thunder Bay returned the favour in the last game of 2018 by downing Kaw Valley FC by the same score here in Thunder Bay.  In the first game of the 2019 season Kaw Valley FC again came out on top with a 3-1 victory in Kansas.

“This game is a playoff game for us”, said Chill head coach Giovanni Petraglia.  A Chill loss does not eliminate them mathematically, but a loss would mean that the Chill would have to win its remaining 3 games and have WSA Winnipeg (0-12-1) beat Kaw Valley FC in Winnipeg on July 8.  “We need the momentum from this victory going into the final 3 regular season games to get us over the top and into second place”, continued Petraglia. “We hope our fans see how important this game is for the Chill in this race and come and support us”, said Chill captain Mattia Rolli.

The Chill will end the regular season on the road with two against the Menace on July 11th and 13th and one in Green Bay on July 14th.
