About Us

The Thunder Bay Chill was established in 2000 by founder Tony Colistro. The club had a vision that was inspired by the need to provide high level soccer to the community of Thunder Bay. Colistro was also the founder/owner of the Thunder Bay Soccer Plex which was the first ever indoor soccer specific facility in Northwestern Ontario - see below. The Soccer Plex was established in 1994 and the creation of this facility allowed players to play year round and was one of the reasons for the massive increase in soccer participation in the community.

Fast forward to 2023, the Thunder Bay Chill now train out of the PLEXII Indoor Turf facility, which is a much larger facility and can house the increased demands of the Club.  The Club runs recreational and competitive programs for both male and females starting at age 3. The USL2 team (formerly known as PDL) sits on top of the pyramid  of the Club where the team plays out of the US based league - USL2. As much of the success that the USL2 team has brought to the club, the largest gains for the club is the increased participation in both recreational and competitive soccer, as well as the success of the many competitive teams as they represent Thunder Bay in leagues and tournaments both national and international. In addition many Chill youth and USL2 players have moved on to additional success either through scholarships or the professional path - (see Where are they now feature on our site and the PDL Archives).
