Tuesday, May 19, 2009 -Three games into the new soccer season, the Thunder Bay Chill proved they‘re the best of Ontario.
The defending Premier Development League North American champions completed a perfect three games Sunday at the Victoria Cup Challenge pre-season tournament, defeating the Toronto Lynx 2-0 in Ottawa. They also defeated fellow PDL teams Ottawa Fury and Forest City London earlier in the weekend.
“They were three games and they were three competitive games,” said Chill coach Tony Colistro. “We‘ll see when we play Real Colorado (May 29-30) in our league opener if it‘s made a difference.”
Marco Silva opened the scoring for Thunder Bay in the 10th minute and newcomer Cristian Fernandes potted the insurance marker in the second half. Stephen Paterson picked up the shutout.
The Chill completes its pre-season schedule at Chapples Park this weekend against the Winnipeg Sons of Italy.
