The Thunder Bay Chill Select Males had their championship goals cut short on Sunday by the North Mississauga Panthers. The Panthers defeated the Selects 2-0 in the semi-finals of the 2010 Ontario Indoor Cup taking place at the Ontario Soccer Centre in Mississauga, Ontario.
The Selects began the group stages with a goalless draw against the Panthers. Lucas Felice and Liam Fors both scored for the Selects in their second game against the Erin Mills Extreme Eagles, the game ended in a 2-2 draw. The Glen Shields Sun Devils handed the Selects their first defeat of the championships in a 3-1 loss, Liam Fors scored for the Selects. Needing a win to advance to the semi-finals, the Selects handled their business by defeating the London City Gunners 1-0 after a timely goal from Eric Manzini.
In the semi-final game, the Selects played well but could not beat the Panthers goalkeeper, while their opponents were able to capitalize on their chances scoring the only two goals of the game. The Selects Head Coach Saverio Lento was pleased with his team’s performance this weekend, and commends his players for their effort in every game.
