The Thunder Bay Chill Soccer Club is off to the Ontario Indoor Cup 2010 this weekend, sending three of their youth squads to the tournament. The Elite U13 Males and Females will be accompanied by the Chill Reserve U18 Males to Ontario's elite indoor soccer competition.
The tournament takes place at the Ontario Soccer Centre, in Vaughan, Ontario, and each team will play three round robin games on Saturday, January 30th, 2010. If the Chill teams advance past the round robin stage, the knockout stages take place on Sunday, January 31st, 2010.
This will be the Elite U13 Male and Female's first experience at a provincial level tournament, in either an indoor or outdoor competition. The Elite Females find themselves in a group with the Erin Mills Eagles 98, the Sudbury SCCISC Sharks, and the Erin Mills Rising Eagles. While the Elite Males face-off against the London NorWest Fusion, the Erin Mills Stormin Eagles, and the Mississauga Dixie Athletic 97B.
The Chill Reserve U18 Males are entering this tournament with a bulls-eye on their backs. As the 2009 Ontario Outdoor Cup Champions, the Reserves are the team to beat at this year’s indoor competition. Runners-up last year in the indoor event, the Reserves are in a group with the Brampton East Chiefs '92, the Vaughan Azzurri Huskies '92s, and the North York Armour Heights.
Scores and results from the weekend will be submitted to the media on Sunday, January 31st, 2010.
