Thunder Bay, Ontario - The Thunder Bay Chill Elite Girls defeated the Lakehead Express U13 Girls 1-0 in a regional match up tonight at the Thunder Bay Sportsdome. The Chill Elite’s only goal came from Ashlyn Cook in the 15th minute of the game. Anna Maclean was in net to record the shutout.
Coach Brent Mandryk said “ I’m happy with the way the girls kept their shape and defended. The team came in focused and prepared to work hard, which is why we achieved the win tonight.” Coach Mandryk was extremely happy with the effort put forth by all of his players and is looking forward to competing at the Ontario Cup Finals.
The Chill Elite girls will now move on to the Provincial Championships at the end of January in Vaughn, Ontario. The girls will join three other Chill teams who have already qualified for the Provincials. The Chill Reserve U18 boys and Elite U13 Boys will play on the same weekend as the girls. The Chill Select U14 Boys will travel for their Provincial competition at the end of February.
