Chill U17 Reserves Make History

The Thunder Bay Chill U17 Male Reserves have made Thunder Bay Soccer history Sunday, as they become the first team from this region to ever win the Ontario Cup Outdoor Championships.

On Sunday, September 20th, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. the Reserves faced off against Simcoe FC at the Ontario Soccer Centre in Vaughan, Ontario. In what was a fast paced affair, Simcoe FC jumped off the starting line in dramatic fashion scoring a goal in the 8th minute, courtesy of J. Ambrosini. After several offensive chances, Gavin Hoy equalized for the Reserves in the 28th minute.

In the second half the Reserves put on a dominant performance, creating chance after chance in the offensive end, while locking down Simcoe FC defensively. The Reserves were aided by strong performances from John Czaczkowski and Carlos Pernia, who kept Simcoe FC’s main offensive threat under wraps. However, Gavin Hoy was the hero of the day, scoring the winner in the 62nd minute and giving the Reserves a 2-1 win, and an Ontario Championship.
