The Thunder Bay Chill Select Male’s suffered two losses this past weekend after traveling to Sault Ste. Marie for a two game series with the Nor West Hurricanes, as they continued their play in the WOYSL.
The Selects faced a strong Nor West squad that dominated them on the score sheet. The first game of the series took place on Saturday June 27th, and ended with a 4-0 score line. The Chill had several scoring opportunities, but was unable to put the ball in the back of the net.
Sunday’s game ended with a similar score line of 3-1, with Ashlyn Cook scoring the only goal of the weekend for the Selects. Again, the Selects had the majority of possession but were unable to capitalize on any of their offensive chances.
The weekend highlighted the teams lack of ability to finish their scoring opportunities, and head coach Saverio Lento guarantees that this will be an area focus in practice leading up to the Selects next set of games.
The Selects will play host to the Sault St. Marie Civics for a two game series on July 11th, and 12th, 2009, at Chapples Park.
