The Thunder Bay Chill Soccer Club is excited to offer our Recreational House League soccer program for the youth of Thunder Bay. Our programs are directed toward boys and girls from kindergarten to High School (Ages 4 – 18) and are designed for children at all points along the spectrum. The club’s philosophy for this age group is simple:
- To develop each individual player’s soccer skills in an environment that is fun and keeps the kids interested in playing soccer.
Our creative approach will help children and parents develop a love for the game. Our ambition is to deliver a fun learning environment that develops kids physically, engages kids mentally and teaches the joy of participation. We guarantee plenty of smiles from both players and parents!
Our main goals are to:
· Develop player motor skills, social skills and soccer skills
· Create a fun, soccer related experience that the kids enjoy
· Build self esteem in each and every child
How are we Different?
The Thunder Bay Chill is the ONLY local soccer club to offer its recreational players PROFESSIONAL instruction at every session with CHILL PLAYERS. Players will get the highest quality instruction each week in a truly FUN learning environment. Team tactics and competition is kept to a minimum in these formative years; there is no focus on winning or losing.
How Long is the Season? What is the Cost?
Our seven (7) week program begins May 11th, 2009 and will end the last week of June. The end of season Soccer Festival is scheduled for Sunday June 21, 2009 at James St. fields. Registration fee with the Thunder Bay Chill Recreational Soccer program is $ 75.00/player
What will the soccer Sessions Look Like For The Kids?
Small-sided games have been part of soccer history in Thunder Bay for generations. With small numbers and the simple nature of the game, the best teacher is the game itself. With fewer players on the field, each player gets more touches of the ball and has greater opportunity to change location in a fast-flowing, fluid game. Playing short-sided allows players to make simpler decisions and develop a better understanding of the game’s organization of play. Smaller fields mean more players are directly involved in play, creating increased levels of both concentration and interest. We want to recreate the small-sided environment at neighbourhood fields near you.

How Are The Teams Formed?
Team assignments will be based primarily on geographic location and we try to group players based on the schools they attend. Please be sure to mark this on your registration form. However, there are a number of factors that can impact team assignments. A heavy concentration of players in one area of the city may require games at fields not near your home or school, although we are committed to have at least one location at both the North & South wards of the city.
