COMMUNITY & MEDIA INTERN

The Community Relations Coordinator will assist in the Chill public appearances, community events and donations. Positions will also work closely with the Chill players and General Manager. Media Relations will involve the coordination of the writing and distribution of all team information for the Chill including news releases, media guide/yearbook, statistics, player biographies, etc. and will be responsible for the dissemination of all information, and the placement of this information in major media outlets.

Position will gain additional experience in the areas of operations, game-day manangement, and corporate sales department. All Chill interns gain experience involving the full range of sports-business know-how, and are not limited to one specific department.

DESCRIPTION

  • Booking community events
  • Attend and coordinate player appearances
  • Informing players of appearances and guidelines
  • Respond to donation requests
  • Assist in promotion and preparation of Summer Soccer Camps
  • Assist in men's tryouts
  • Event organization and planning
  • Database administration
  • Establishing relationships with the local media
  • Writting new releases on players, club, camps, games (1-3 per week)
  • Placing feature/interviews in local papers, publications, TV news and radio
  • Updating and maintaining an email database
  • Assisting with press conferences/media events
  • Assistant editor of Chill Souvenir guide
  • Updating and maintaining the photo library

QUALIFICATIONS

  • University/College degree or dipolma preferred or working towards it
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications including Word and Excel
  • Strong writing, editing and organizational skills
