Chill in the Community
Being part of our community!

THERE’S A CHILL IN THE AIR!

The Thunder Bay Chill is committed to this community. Now entering its 10th season of PDL play, the organization believes that active participation in community events is the foundation for success. Educational and youth involvement are two elements that the Chill continues to focus on.

Supporting youth events such as player appearances, fun visits by "Kixx", soccer camps and clinics, promotional gifts and packages are just a sampling of the Youth Soccer Side of the Chill organization. Through our "healthy lifestyles" and "Get Active with The "Chill" school program, the Chill is providing the children of today the education in order to fulfill their potential as individuals and hopefully soccer stars. Chill General Manager, John Marrello states, "the Chill players have proven to be great role models for the kids in our community. It’s not if they are making professional salaries, but they do it because of the satisfaction and rewards of being with the youth in our community".

The Chill players will see over 2000 kids each season as part of our youth, camps and educational programs. Former Chill player and school teacher Frank Lacaria is one of the original founders and continues to assist in co-coordinating our school program and states that, "the positive comments that we receive from the schools is very meaningful to the players. In fact, players really do not have a lot of free time to volunteer because they train every night, play every weekend, and most of them hold part time jobs. It just shows that our players genuinely care about the people they touch, who remember the names of the children, sign autographs, and talk with the fans as they do. This you can not put a price tag on".

Chill head coach and director of soccer programs Tony Colistro; can’t believe how much time each players puts into the community functions. "When I look for players to play for this team, I’m not only looking at technical and physical qualities, but just as important are personalities, dedication, and good citizens. This type of player will help our organization fulfill part of our mission in being the most-community focused sports team in town".
